London Marathon | Cirencester Personal Trainer
Here is my full marathon write up. Firstly, and I cannot say this enough, thank you to all who have supported, donated and given general well wishes in aid of me running this marvellous event, without you all it would have been 10X harder.
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. As you can see since January I have been following a training plan of which I put together in December, this plan was set out to achieve a sub 03:30:00 marathon. I have tried my best to stick to plan but as with everything life gets in the way, injuries, wet weather days and holidays, all of which occurred throughout, this is not an excuse but just a foreword to anyone looking at taking on a challenge in the near future. Don't be hard on yourself and just jump back on plan when possible, never try to make up those lost days.
As I've just mentioned above my aim was to achieve sub 03:30:00, many people said for a first marathon and a non runner this wasn't achievable, and I should be more realistic, I have to say thank you to all who voiced said words as this pushed me on further throughout the training season. As you can see throughout the marathon stages I had been on target to hit my goal, but this did not happen, at mile 22 my hamstrings started to give up and at this point the aim had to be adjusted, there is no point in causing long term injury for a short term goal. This being said I am extremely happy with my time and it only adds to the fire of what I now know is achievable, sub 03:30:00 is in sight. For this year at least I shall be hanging up my marathon trainers and focusing on shorter distance races and looking to achieve other goals within each discipline.
If you are thinking of running London next year, in the words of Nike JUST DO IT, I will definitely be putting my name forward, the event is fantastic, the crowds were amazing from start to finish, and the feeling of achievement once you cross that finish line is overwhelming.
For now you will all be happy to hear I shall no longer be pestering you for donations, we so far have raised a whopping 🎉£2410🎉 with some donations still to come in and be counted, I'll post the final figure within the next week or two.
Thank you all once again.
