073 Three keys to weight loss
As it has been shown diets and having an understanding of healthy eating doesn’t work. The UK obesity epidemic is STILL on the rise. We have a more free information than ever, we have far better shopping options and new gyms are opening yearly, however we as a society are still putting on weight.
The issue as a whole is that we are looking at things from the wrong end, the government are tackling the symptoms not the cause. A diet is the car, the fuel, but unless the driver has his/her licence the car isn’t going anywhere.
We need to enforce better habits to create a long-term change.
Temptation – understand your triggers and remove the temptation, just as an alcoholic wouldn’t actively visit the pub you have to do the same with food, don’t make it hard on yourself by having those unhealthy choices at arms reach.
Association – find the link. If you are someone who drives past a costa coffee on the way home from work and HAS to stop in for a frothy spiced latte, simply find a different route. By removing the link or association you’ll soon find other healthier routines.
Accountability – simple, tell family and friends, get them involved. Studies show you’re 70% more likely to succeed if your spouse is on the same journey with you.
So next time you Google a new sparkly diet plan, maybe its not the diet which is the issue in the first place.
