012.3 Home fitness equipment

Home fitness equipment.

When training from home you want to always think in line with versatility, buy equipment that you can use in a variety of movements/exercises. Don’t waste your money where its not needed.

Below is a list of equipment for home training.

Resistance bands – These are cheap, can fit in your luggage when going on holiday and can be used to make exercises harder or easier dependent on use. If you are only buying one go for the red colour, this’ll be the most versatile and if you do find it too easy just up the reps and slow the tempo.

Sand bag – A simple sand bag can be used in place of any dumbbell or barbell, and will be at least 75% cheaper. Think outside the box when it comes to training, don’t think in the form of ‘dumbbell overhead press’, think ‘overhead press’ what have I got available to me.

Gymnastic rings – Scrap the TRX and buy some gymnastic rings, its that simple. They do everything a TRX does without the brand name price tag. Also if you have nothing to loop them over, simply tie a decent knot in one end of the strap and clamp it into a door (making sure the door opens away from you).

With the above equipment and the imagination to think outside of the box, you are set for a lifetime of fitness gains. Nonetheless, if you really want to push the boat out with your equipment arsenal then read on.

Pull-up bar.

Set of dumbbells.

Set of kettle bells.

A barbell and selection of weight plates.

The list is endless, but most of all I urge you to simply think outside the box and use whatever you have available to you. And as we've realised never look at bodyweight training as regression.

Enjoy.
