Learning “The acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience, or being taught”

Last weekend was once again a humbling experience, immersing myself within a community of likeminded trainers of whom are all singing from the same hymn sheet, that is the beauty of what ‘Combined Strength’ offers, a place for conversing theory, seeking knowledge and an atmosphere which allows for intellectual expansion.

The first part of the meet-up was taken by one of the coaches, Ben Donnelly from Ardent Fitness UK, discussing a recent trip/course of which he participated in the week previous; within this time we were taken through a multitude of drills, from soft-hard rolling, the relationship between feet to earth and the inclusion of play within training.

After lunch we moved onto ‘problems and protocols’, this was very much the ‘how’ to identify a movement or mobility issue with a client and the ‘how’ said problem could be addressed with the use of complexes, repetitions and patterns.

This moved promptly onto the inclusion of two new pieces of training equipment that I hadn’t previously been in contact with, Indian clubs and mace bells, both extremely versatile in use and invaluable to your personal training arsenal. (I shall be sure to cover both in further detail within a later ramble but for more immediate information head to Grant Ford’s IG page)

For me these weekends offer a chance to sit-back, observe and walk away with enthusiasm for progress, all of which give me further intent on developing my ability and awareness as a coach.

Enjoy
