Fitness Insecurity | Cirencester Personal Trainer
Fitness Talk 005
Health and fitness insecurity.
No one wants to look stupid, as if they don’t know what they are doing or that they don’t belong, the gym environment is a very daunting place and for many this general insecurity is what stops them in the first place.
Here are my top tips for gaining confidence within a training environment.
Employ a personal trainer: This doesn’t have to be a long term solution but having someone qualified showing you how and what to do within the initial few months of training can seriously help, plus it will also give you the knowledge base to move forward independently. Here is a very interesting idea published this week I the ‘Independent’ putting forward the notion of having an OAP generation of fitness instructors to encourage other of such an age to also lead a fresh healthy lifestyle, I personally think this a brilliant idea. Exercise with a friend: Maybe ask a friend to start with you, fid a local fitness class and join together, studies have shown a dramatic increase in adherence when training with others, and on another plus note working out in a group gives a fantastic social dynamic.
Alterative fitness: Now when I use the word alternative I don’t want you to think of some new whacky method of exercise but rather something that doesn’t solely focus on structured training, maybe start your health and fitness journey but walking two to four times a week, get outside in the fresh air and cycle a bike, find something of which you enjoy and then when you’ve started those lifestyle changes and got yourself into a good routine then look into something more formal like the gym.
Enjoy
