10,000 Steps | Cirencester Personal Trainer

Fitness Talk 002

Are you getting your 10,000?

With Google has dropping its 10,000 daily steps goal from the new Fitbit Alta HR (CLICK HERE) it has got me thinking, what’s more important, structured exercise or NEAT (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis).

In my opinion the long hold goal of achieving 10,000 steps a-day should remain, it is a fantastic goal to get the average person to MOVE, of which should always be at the heart of any training week. Even if you were to train/workout once a day for seven days a-week this would still only equate to 7 hours out of a possible 168, so with this simple equation anyone can see by putting greater emphasis on MOVING more daily it will generate a higher calorific expenditure.

NEAT movement should always be at the forefront when beginning any lifestyle change, aim for your 10,000 and you cant go far wrong.

Enjoy
